Blackpool is a seaside resort situated on the English North West coast, which remains amazingly popular with visitors from the nearby towns which include Liverpool, Warrington, Manchester and more. The resort is also fanatically popular with people from Scotland who often arrive in large groups in a similar way to the hoards of factory workers of old on their factory vacation. Occasionally it would seem as though the resort is awash with accommodation and visitor attractions and although there is an incredibly amount of bed and breakfasts in Blackpool it is still best to book ahead to avoid upset. Hotels varies from the cheap and chearful to five star class. You will find many on the sea front but, if you would prefer book something far less lively you will find a few further away.
Blackpool began to see its first visitors in the 18th century who came to enjoy the new craze of sea bathing. When the railway arrived, in 1846, the resort experienced more tourists arriving to”take the cure” as it was called. Nowadays you can travel to Blackpool by air, road or rail arriving there much faster than the Victorian tourists who could take as long as 48 hrs from as nearby as Manchester.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The primary attraction in the seaside resort of Blackpool, in Lancashire on the north west coast of England, which manages to receive around seven million customers a year, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Pleasure Beach is a funfair on an enormous scale with fear inducing big rides, just a few are the Pepsi Max Big One, Ice Blast, Valhalla, Grand National, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, as well as many, many more sideshows, food booths, children’s rides, thrill rides, sidestalls and games. The most recently added addition is Infusion, the world’s first to have a coaster of suspended loops wholly over water.
Please remember: If you are visiting the Pleasure Beach as a family group you can save a substantial amount of cash by buying a wristband for unlimited rides especially if you will be going on as many rides as you can handle as the individual cost of each ride soon begins to add up.
How To Get There And Accommodation
Blackpool is, as mentioned earlier, very easy to get to these days as it is possible to travel to the resort by air, road or rail. Traveling by train you will, more than likely, be using the main railway station in Blackpool, Blackpool North found on Talbot Road. Not too fat away, just a little further down the road you will find the main bus and coach station, Blackpool National Express Coach Station. The other rail station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, which is better for the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s International Airport is found about two miles from the center of town and was previously called, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of the UK’s oldest airports.
Blackpool bed and breakfast accommodation is usually fairly cheap. Accommodation is much cheaper out of season but a little more pricey at the weekend. Blackpool hotel hotels are at their most expensive while the Blackpool Illuminations are on, which is really peak season for the resort.
Please remember: Some bed and breakfasts can be very busy and rather noisy especially those between Central Pier and North Pier. If you require in a less busy location try booking a place past the North Pier.
