Australian rockers AC/DC will next Tuesday be gracing the halls of the Palau Sant Jordi. Located high in the hills of Montjuic beside the Olympic Stadium, this modern attractive venue has played host to numerous high profile bands and artists including Coldplay, U2 and Queen. On 31st March it will once again welcome another legend of the rock world which you can see from your accommodation Barcelona.

The band is currently on a world tour called Black Ice, after the new album they are promoting, it is the sixteenth album in the bands history. The band has been together the best part of four decades having first formed in 1973. Having been set up by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, it is now composed of five members with its line up having changed several times throughout the years.

The band is well known for its relentlessly long tours and party hard attitude. Their style is commonly referred to as hard rock and they are considered to be one of the pioneers of heavy metal. Although the band has always classified their music as simply ‘rock and roll’. They remain one of the fifth highest selling bands in US music history and their most famed album, ‘Back in Black’, sold more than 22 millions copies, making it the fifth highest selling album ever in the US.

In recent years, the band has also been on the receiving end of numerous awards and honours which go hand in hand with legendary success they have had. In 2000 they were inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame with their hands imprinted into the cement. In 2003 they received one of the greatest honours, their induction into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame. During this ceremony they gave a classic performance in which Aerosmith front man, Steve Tyler, performed alongside them.

The last decade has seen the ageing rock gods still showing their vitality and with no sign of letting up, who knows when they will finally hang up their guitars?
