Uganda is a great destination. Though Africa as a whole is still underdeveloped in comparison to the west, Uganda has undergone massive changes and developments over the last ten years. Now tens of thousands of tourists base themselves in the capital while exploring the magnificence of this timeless land. Fortunately, there is a wide range of options when it comes to booking hotels in Kampala and the greater region.
Situated in Southern Uganda, Kampala has been famous for many years as being one of the greenest and most lush cities in all Africa. It’s blessed with great weather year round and is surrounded and built on seven hills. There is a mix of an old charm with modern trends and buildings. Luckily it is not a place in which there is chaos and confusion on the streets, it is peaceful and safe.
Today tourism is a vital component of Uganda’s economy. It is a sector that brings the country more than half a billion dollars annually. This would not be possible without offering a wide selection of accommodation that caters to various tastes. The up market chains all have a presence in the capital as well as in more rural locations. For example there is the Sheraton Kampala, Holiday Express, and Grand Imperial to name but a few.
If your trip to Uganda will involve heading out of the capital that the lodgings available will be simpler but this does not mean a lack of quality. Even when on safari the lodges and camps that you stay at will provide you with luxury five star treatments. Today the options in Uganda can be compared favorably too many other destinations. Of course if you are on a tight shoe string then there is always the option of budget guesthouses and cheap lodges.
The city itself has a lot to offer. You should not just rush out in to the savannah and tropical forests. For example just ten minutes from the city centre are the Kasubi tombs. These are the spiritual centre of the traditional Buganda culture; they actually house deceased members of the royal family.
The Bahai temple is also worth exploring whilst in the city. It is the only one of its kind to be found in Africa. It is easy to take a stroll here from your hotel in the early morning or at sunset.
The people throughout Uganda are famous for their hospitality and friendliness. You will have no worries finding accommodation that is up to standard.
